Public vs Private School

Stress of homework can lead to heightened anxiety in teens.

My name is Larry Layman, and I am a senior here at ASES. I have been here for the last two years, but before that attended my first two years of high school at a public school. The difference between the two school types is huge in many areas, but the one I think is the most beneficial to reflect on today is the way the two schools run their midterm and end of year requirements.

In public schools, you have to attend every class everyday during testing even when you have nothing to do in those classes. In the private school it is so much better for your stress level because you only have to go to that class if you have a test that day. Having only one or two tests in a day makes it so much easier to study and concentrate on what you have going on each day, instead of having to think about too many things all at once.

It also gives the students a chance to relax and study at home. Brody Bedford, a sophomore at All Saints’ told me, “I was in public school too, and ASES is so much better for end of year testing. It feels like we are using our time better and not just sitting at a desk staring at our phones.”

It seems like when it comes to private school vs public school the private school wins in many ways. I have truly enjoyed my time here at All Saints’ and am proud to be on my way to graduating from such a great school.
