Homecoming is a very exciting thing especially for Texas. From the HOCO proposal to the mum, the dress up days, and your hair/makeup. Some people get ready on their own, but others go to salons and get their hair professionally done. As fun as this might sound it ended up disastrous for some girls this year. I interviewed five girls about their bad experiences in order to help you know what salons to avoid in the fort worth area.
Claire Carthey is a freshman. She went to Drybar to get her hair done. She asked her stylist for curled hair with the ends straightened a bit. When Cartheys’ hair was done it was nothing like she imagined. The top of her hair ended up frizzy and the bottom half of her hair was straight. Also some of Carthey’s hair was burnt! Carthey thinks that she clearly explained what she wanted and that her stylist did not know how to properly execute what she asked for. Carthey would neither recommend going to Drybar nor will she go back.
Makena Schimmels is also a freshman. She went to The Drybar but was not even able to get her hair done. She booked four appointments at Drybar two months in advance. The day came for her and her friends to get their hair done. Schimmels had not received a reminder text, email or call. She told her friends the time of the appointment but when they showed up their appointment had been canceled. They were thirty minutes late. Drybar never called them to see if they were coming or anything; they just canceled their appointments and did not give a refund. Schimmels feels as though Drybar could have communicated better with her. Schimmels does not recommend Drybar.
Carson Hall is a senior. She went to Blo Blow Dry Bar. She asked for curls, and they did them very tight. She just wanted basic curls and somehow the stylist managed to mess that up. Hall would not go back again.
Olivia Pratt is a freshman. She went to Drybar. Pratt asked for a normal blow out with the ends flipped under. When she left Drybar her roots were still visibly wet and the ends of her hair were curled not flipped . She also thought there was nothing else she needed to explain to the stylist in order to have a better outcome. Pratt will not return to Drybar either.
Clare Kale is also a freshman. She went to Blo Blow Dry Bar. Kale asked for a blow out with a little bit of curl. Her hair was not blown out with a brush, and the stylist put extremely tight curls into her hair as well as covering it in hairspray. Kale’s hair looked so bad that the manager from Blo Blow Dry Bar redid her hair free of charge. Even though her hair was fixed Kale would not go back to Blo Blow Dry Bar again.
If you look up Drybar it has 4.4 stars out of 5. If you start reading the reviews you will see that most people with a complaint had the same problems as Carthey and Pratt. It depends on what stylist you get because some are really good while others are clueless. As a result, Dry bar is a good place to get your hair done, but be prepared to speak up and tell your stylist what is wrong with your hair.
Blo Blow Dry Bar has 4.8 stars out of 5. Most people love it but it does have some downfalls. Some people’s stylist was not there at the time of the appointment while others felt like they were listening to the stylist’s gossiping like high schoolers.
As a result hair salons can be a hit or miss depending on who your stylist is. Be careful and aware when going to Drybar and Blo Blow Dry bar. Make sure you fully explain what you want. The more detailed the better.
