With the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award show, the Academy Awards (commonly referred to as the Oscars), right around the corner, there has been a lot of buzz about celebrities and famous actors that got snubbed from nominations, and celebrities that everyone was super excited with the nomination given to them.
There is a lot of exciting news going on with the Oscars and a lot of fans have very strong opinions about who made it and who didn’t.
First, the biggest Oscar snubs to come out of the awards nominations.
Many people are outraged over Margot Robbie missing out on an Oscar nomination on January 23, 2024. Some of her costars got nominated, including Ryan Gosling. Gosling was nominated for hisrole in “Barbie,” including his song“I’m Just Ken.”
Fans are also extremely upset due to the fact that Greta Gerwig was also snubbed from the nominations. Her film “Barbie,” broke the Hollywood record for women in the box office. She brought in more money,views, and popularity than anyone else in 2023 yet she was still not included in the Best Director category.
Other actors like Whoopi Goldberg said that it was fair, “Not everyone gets a prize.” Other female actresses and directors also thought this way because of the reaction from her crew. They take the view that you aren’t always going to get what you want and sometimes it doesn’t go your way.
Leonardo DiCaprio also got snubbed for his lead role in the movie “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
Other than the snubs, there has also been some exciting nominations as well. Oppenheimer exploded in the nominations and is poised to be very successful at the Oscars.
Overall, the only big upset for the Oscars Nominations was the snubbing of Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, but overall the fans didn’t have many complaints. It seems like the Academy Awards is a close-knit community where only certain people win every year.
Also, the Oscars are adding a new category of Best Casting into the award categories. This will be the newest category in decades of the Oscars.
