The All Saints Football Team suffered a tough loss to Liberty Christian 42-17 on Saturday the 25th of November. With a long season going into the Semifinals for Thanksgiving break, it takes a toll on a lot of players. This leads to an important question, now that the seniors are done, what are some of the up and coming leaders of the team doing to recover and get ready for the next season.
I interviewed right tackle Hudson Dalton about his recovery process and he said he spends most of his time in the ice bath. Making sure he’s good by stretching and drinking lots of water. This is a pretty basic method of recovering, but Dalton said the season didn’t affect him as much. He is already in the gym everyday trying to improve so that the team can go even farther next season.
Next I interviewed three star quarterback Kelden Ryan, he said that the most important thing is to remember the feeling of the last game. He doesn’t want another ending like this year happening and he refuses to let it happen willingly. Ryan says that he thinks about the loss against Liberty Christian everyday and he wants to make sure that everyone stays locked in, focused, and is already starting to hit the gym and watch film to prepare for next year’s season.
The last junior I interviewed, Jayden Cleary, Defensive End/Linebacker, has a very intelligent mind on the defensive side of the ball and he says he is already working on preparations for next year, here’s what he had to say. He said he lives in the gym and the training room taking ice baths and lifting when he’s not being an academic powerhouse. He takes the time to train in school as well as outside of school too, a method he calls, staying in the lab.
Finally I interviewed one of our proud All Saints seniors about his thoughts about the team going into next year and some advice for the upcoming group. Durham Salter, Free Safety, who two years ago, turned the entire game around, shifting the momentum with a pick six against Grapevine Faith to propel them to a win, grinded the entire year and played an important role the entire season, even playing phenomenal defense against Liberty Christian in the semifinals. He said we have some seniors leaving, that were strong and key players on our team. He feels that the offense will be alright and stay really strong, but our defense has two safety spots open as long as linebacker and defensive tackle gaps. A lot of players are going to have to step up and take control as the season comes near. The advice he gives is to lift and stay in summer workouts. A good team trains together, and learns how to live life together because of how much time they spend together.
There are a lot of promising players coming up that have already been reaching superstar status on the field that I believe will lead this team to the promise land and give All Saints their first TAPPS Ring. Some of these promising players include: Kelden Ryan, BJ Stovall, Hudson Dalton, Blake Robinett, Keyon Adkins, Tymon Meeks, Dalton Knapp, Jayden Cleary, Cole Palfreeman, Ian Bothwell, Kwame Oseii, Kaden Richardson, Qumonte Williams, and underrated receiver next year will be Connor Mccurdy.
