Student athletes dedicate the majority of their time and energy to excel at their extracurricular activities. Have you ever wondered what they really have put into it to succeed?
I asked a few student athletes that attend All Saints’ Episcopal School and asked them numerous questions. I spoke to Justin Mucerino, a Pipe-Wrench on the All Saints’ football team. I asked him “How dedicated are you really to football?”, he responded ”It’s pretty much all I think about on a daily basis. I try to balance everything else out but football is the one thing I love.” Mucerino stated. I then asked him what his offseason regime consists of? Mucerino responded with,“Usually I will lift everyday besides the weekends. I usually lift in the morning and I will condition in the afternoon to lose all my bad weight. Before the run I will usually have a heavy protein lunch, and get a little bulk after the workout.”
Mucerino has been through the All Saints’ offseason program 3 times now, getting better and better each year. Last but not least, I asked him “What the most memorable moment on the field that you can recall is?” “My first play of the state game, I got laid out. It was pretty embarrassing for me. It really just switched something in my mind. I drove to be more aggressive ever since. I mean nobody wants to be embarrassed like that.” Mucerino stated. Mucerino and his teammates are striving to win a TAPPS Division II 5A state championship this season. Mucerino will be graduating in the spring of 2024.
