The 2022 Saints’ Baseball season is coming up faster than ever. The team has been working out since September 7, just a few days after the school year started. There are five seniors on the team — Trip Hooks, Griffin Turner, Griffin Cole, Jackson Poulson, and Riggs Dial. These five players will play a crucial role in how the Saints’ season goes, with the leadership and mentorship that is required for success.
“I am excited for the season, because I truly believe that we can make a run at state this year,” said Griffin Cole. Although the seniors will play a key role in the Saints’ success, they cannot do it all. Junior pitcher Ryland Byrd says, “I am most excited for this season, because I love the team we have and the chemistry is through the roof.” The Saints’ have many strong suits this year, due to maturing players and more experience all throughout the season.
The team’s first game is on Saturday February 11, when they face Trinity Christian in Willow Park. “I am most excited to play Paschal at their place on a Friday night, the energy will be crazy,” said senior pitcher Jackson Poulson. All in all, the whole team is hyped up for the season to begin, and cannot wait until the first pitch is thrown, to really kick off the season.
