Having long luscious lashes is a popular trend right now. My goal in the research of this article is to try and test different mascaras to find a mascara that will make your lashes look their best. I interviewed two people in grades 9 – 12, and asked them what mascara they use. I chose three of the mascaras that they told me to test out. Each mascara will be rated out of 5 stars based on its lengthening abilities, how much volume it gives, how it separates the lashes, how it holds, and how easy it is to remove.
First I used the L’oreal Telescopic mascara. I applied this mascara in a vertical sweeping motion first and then I put the wand at the base of my lashes and blinked a couple of times. I found out that the L’oreal Telescopic mascara does not lengthen your lashes or add much volume. It would easily get clumpy if you were not light-handed while applying it. I will say it did not budge once I put it on. My lashes stayed in place all day until I easily removed it with makeup remover. Overall I give this mascara a 3 out of 5 rating. It was great at holding my lashes up but did not enhance my lashes.
Next, I used the Illia mascara. When applying this mascara I noticed it giving me volume right away. It did not lengthen my lashes. My lashes were effortlessly separated. As I went throughout my day the mascara slowly began to melt off and get onto my eyelids. Overall I rate this mascara a 4 out of 5. If it stayed on my lashes better and gave me a bit more length it would be a 5 out of 5.
Finally I used the Dior Overcurl mascara. This mascara was my absolute favorite. Right as the wand hit my lashes I gasped at how good it was. It gave me volume and length but did not look heavy. It stayed on all day and my lashed did not fall. This mascara gets a 5 out of 5 rating.
All of these mascaras are good options. It truly does depend on personal preference and your lashes when picking out a mascara, but if I had to recommend one to you it would be the Dior Overcurl mascara.
