Taylor is now recording her first six albums Debut, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. This is because, in 2005, Taylor signed with Big Machine Records and the original contract she signed gave all the copyright rights to the company instead of her.
When she switched record deals in 2018, all of her music stayed copyrighted by BMR and she no longer has the rights to the music. Now, she has decided to rerecord all her first 6 albums to be able to gain profits and not have her music stolen.
Fans have noticed a pattern of Taylor releasing 2 rerecords and then 1 album the next year. In between the first 2, “Midnights” was released in 2022 then “The Tortured Poets Department” in 2024.
“Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”, came out in April 2021, “Red (Taylor’s Version)”, came in the Fall of 2021, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)”, in July 2023, and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”, in October 2023. Now, fans are suspecting that Taylor is announcing “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” at the Grammy’s on February 2, 2025.
Fans think this is happening because at 2 different awards shows, the 2022 VMAs and the 2024 Grammys, she showed up in outfits that were black and white, the colors of the Reputation album.
One of the biggest easter eggs is that this Lunar New Year is the Year of the Snake. A snake is the icon of the Reputation album so this is a huge clue that the album could be dropping soon. There have been many easter eggs spread since the beginning of the re-records.
Fans are ready for the Reputation drop and can’t wait to have this album finally. This has been a long-awaited album drop and if the rumors are true, it will be a monumental moment for Swifties everywhere, marking another victory in Taylor’s journey to reclaim her music.
