Roger Kieschnick is the head baseball coach at All Saints Episcopal School. Coach Kieschnick is more than qualified to be coaching, as when he graduated from Rockwall HS, he played at Texas Tech University and got drafted in 2008 in the third round by the San Francisco Giants. He played for the United States national baseball team and played in the 2006 World University Baseball Championships, winning gold, the 2007 Pan-American Games, winning silver, and in the 2007 World Port Tournament, winning silver once again. In 2011, he was named an Eastern League All-Star with 16 home runs and 65 RBIs in just the first half of the season.
Coach Kieschnick decided to start coaching high school baseball because of the impact that it had on him and the lessons that it taught him throughout his high school career. Coach’s biggest success is “creating an environment that players love to come out to the field and enjoy playing the game.” Coach Kieschnick’s favorite memory was being called up to the Major Leagues and getting to share it with his family and friends. With family always coming first, Coach said his favorite memory of his time at All Saints was his kids being born, which shows how much he loves his family.
Coach says that for anyone who is facing adversity, it is important to ask for help and not hold onto it. When asked if participating in sports is important for kids or teenagers, he said, “It is important for all ages. Playing team sports is crucial in developing successful life skills that you can use for the rest of your life.” He was also asked what one piece of advice he would give teenagers, and he said, “Don’t be afraid of hard things; use those experiences to grow and get better.” Coach Kieschnick is one of the best high school coaches out there, and at All Saints, we are lucky to have him as a part of our baseball program.
