On Monday April, 8, 2024 a total eclipse happened in the Fort Worth area. A total eclipse is when the moon moves between the sun and Earth, blocking out the sun’s light completely, some people might have only been seen partially depending on the viewer’s location. It began at 12:22 pm and was over at 3:01 pm. Totality was seen at 1:41 pm.
Many people gathered in places to see the eclipse. Here at All Saints’ Episcopal School, the students gathered around with their classmates to watch the eclipse from 1:20- 1:50 pm. When we first went outside, as totality was near it looked like a huge storm was about to come through, cloudy and had a weird color in the sky. When all students got on the field everyone was looking up with their glasses seeing how the moon was covering but it was nothing crazy. As it became much closer to 1:40 everyone realized how cool this eclipse was. At 1:41 it went silent and we could all take our glasses off and see and look around. In my opinion it looked like it was very early in the morning and the sun was just starting to rise.
Many people went to places you wouldn’t immediately think of. They wanted to view how the eclipse would affect the town. Many went to the zoo and gardens, ranches ect to see how animals react when all the sudden the town went dark. It was noticed that the Silverback gorilla, Elmo yawned more frequently and the flamingos looked back and forth very confused.
The solar eclipse was a once and a lifetime event for most people and it was something that no one will forget.
