When people imagine Thanksgiving, many people imagine a warm house with a home cooked turkey on the kitchen counter, however times are changing, and surprisingly, many more people are eating out on Thanksgiving Day than ever before. Now many people would ask why ditch the coziness of one’s own house?
Well the answer is simple: convenience. Imagine all the stress which comes along with Thanksgiving: cleaning the house for company, cooking a meal, cleaning up after family members, and the planning. By going out to eat, all of these stresses can be avoided.
Dallas Stuart, a junior at All Saints’ has experienced what it is like to eat out, and when asked about it he responded “It was really weird, not bad, just weird.” Dallas explained that it wasn’t necessarily worse, it just didn’t feel like Thanksgiving.
Another student, Lincoln Berg shared his experience, “It was just like any other time I went out to lunch with my family.” He explained how it was different from his usual “Thanksgiving at grandma’s.”
Whether you chose to eat out to avoid the drama or prefer not to leave the coziness of your own home, each option offers its own pros and cons. Whichever one is truly better just comes down to individual preference at the end of the day.
