After the 11th weekend of college football, four games were battles between two ranked teams. In three of the four ranked matchups, the higher ranked team won; in the other, the lower ranked team won. There were also two games in which a ranked team fell to an unranked team.
#2 Georgia hosted #9 Mississippi, and they won the game 52-17. They won this game by a lot because of their early start, scoring 28 points in the first half. Georgia was led by their runningback Kendall Milton, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns. #3 Michigan went to Happy Valley to play #10 Penn State, and Michigan won 24-15. Michigan won for their solid 2nd quarter, scoring 14 points to close out the first half. Michigan was led by their running back duo of Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards on offense, who combined for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Another reason they won this game was their strong defense, which held Penn State to only 238 yards of offense the entire game. #5 Washington played #18 Utah in Spokane, Washington, and Washington won the game, 35-28. Washington won this game because of their scoring during the 3rd quarter, scoring 11 points in the 3d quarter. A primary reason for their win is their quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., who threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns. #14 Missouri hosted #13 Tennessee, and Missouri won 36-7. The Tigers were led by their dual threat running back Cody Schrader, who had 116 receiving yards, 205 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown.
#15 Oklahoma State went to Orlando, Florida, and played UCF, and UCF thrashed them, winning 45-3. UCF won by so much because of their first half, who went up 24-0 in the first half. UCF was led by their running back, RJ Harvey, who rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns. #16 Kansas hosted Texas Tech, and Kansas lost 13-16. Texas Tech was led by their running back Tahj Brooks, who rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown. A significant reason for their win was their defense, which did not allow any points until the 4th quarter when the Jayhawks scored 13 points. Also, another reason they won is Kansas’s lack of a quarterback. Kansas’ second string quarterback got injured during this game, and they were forced to lean on their third string freshman quarterback, Cole Ballard, who only threw for 124 yards and one interception.
