As the new season kicks off in the National Football League, fans burst out in excitement and argument over their teams and new players coming in. There have been some massive off-season moves going on in the AFC and teams that haven’t done well in the past are now bursting at the seams for a chance at redemption in the new season. The question is, which AFC team is ready to take charge and dominate this year’s league. I asked All Saints right tackle, Hudson Dalton, to give us his opinion on which AFC powerhouses are going to go all the way.
Justin Mucerino: “What is your favorite team in the AFC?”
Hudson Dalton: “The Bengals because, I think it’s cool that me and Andy Dalton have the same last name.”
JM: “Who this year do you think is going to be the most exciting to watch in the AFC?”
HD: “The Chiefs because they have the most pure athletes that work hard and play fast. They’ve been playing at a high caliber level for a few years now and it will be exciting to see what new stuff they come up with this year.”
JM: “Who is going to be the underdog this year in the AFC?”
HD: “The New England Patriots because of the playmakers they acquired during the off-season. They didn’t do the greatest last year, so teams won’t think that they’re a big threat and I think they’re going to hit a lot of teams in the mouth unexpectedly.”
JM: “Do you think the Chiefs will reign supreme and dominate the AFC again?”
HD: “Yes I do because the only person struggling is Kadarius Toney and he’ll be back in the groove soon because of the year he had last year. If all of them are healthy, I believe they can pull off any miracle they want to.”
JM: “Do you think the Jets are serious upcomers in the league this year?”
HD: “Absolutely not, Aaron Rogers is washed and they are awful. Plus I think he’s going to get injured early in the first game of the year.”
JM: “Who do you think are serious Super Bowl contenders in the AFC?”
HD: “The Bengals because they were pretty close last year and they have all the same players and some new editions to make their team even better.”
It will be exciting to watch and see if some of Hudson’s predictions accurate going into this year. Personally, I’m hoping the Miami Dolphins will go pretty far in the playoffs but with such strong and dominating competition, anything can happen.
