How To: Easy Updos
The summer heat can be hard to beat especially for girls who like to wear their hair down and free. Most of us love to wear our hair down but that’s a bit of a struggle during the summertime because it is easy to get overheated and it gets on your neck and sometimes even your back all sweaty and gross. But luckily there are some super cute hairstyles out there that we can talk about. Let’s start with the classics, there are braids of course but if you really want the hair out of your face you should try the french and dutch braids. They are both really simple and the only difference is that when you are french braiding you go over and dutch braiding you go under. Also, after you leave your braids in for a while you get some super cute beach waves. Another hairstyle for days you don’t want to put much effort or heat into your hair, you can try a form of a messy bun. These can be high, low, and even to the side. There are so many tutorials online so i’m sure you could find one that works for your hair. A newer hairstyle that looks super complex but is super easy would be bubble braids. This hairstyle has become super trendy this year and all you need are just a few little elastic rubber bands and a little secret is you can even use that rainbow you made your mom buy for you in third grade that you only used for like a week. You can find tutorials for all these hairstyles for long hair, short hair, curly hair, etc. anywhere from tik tok, all the way to youtube.
How To: Beach Blonde
When you think of summer I bet you envision tan skin, freckles, popsicles, and bold hair. Unfortunately, not all people are blonde. The cool thing about summer, especially here in Texas, is the power of the sun. Not only can the sun occasionally melt pavement, and cook eggs, it can make your hair turn blonde! If you have somewhat dirty blond hair, after spending some time in the summer sun, your hair will naturally start to lighten. If you want to speed up the lightning process, you can buy lightning spray or make your own spray at home. One of the best, least damaging ways to lighten your hair in the sun is lemon juice. Yes, just plain lemon juice. You can squeeze your lemons and put them in a spray bottle, or just apply its juice directly to your hair. If you want to go out and buy a lightener you need to be very cautious. Most products on the market can severely damage your hair and turn it orange. Some of the ones that won’t do that are Klorane Sun Lightening Spray with Chamomile, It’s a 10 Haircare Miracle Leave-In-for-Blondes, and Oribe Bright Blonde Sun Lightening Mist. All of these are great options but different things work differently for different hair types. Make sure you do your own research for your hair. Some of these might work better for different people. Also, make sure you are careful when applying any blonding treatment. Depending on the look you are going for. If you want an even bold make sure you evenly mist your whole head. You could also focus it on certain strands of hair to make your hair look highlighted.
How To: Maintain your Blonde
The summer can be one of the hardest times for blondes because the mix of chlorine and the hot sun drys blonde hair out immensely. Dry hair can lead to lots of issues including breakage, and thinning of hair, and when your hair is really dry it will soak up the chlorine and turn green. Luckily there are ways to prevent this kind of damage, the first thing that you can do to prevent this is putting lots of leave-in conditioner all over your hair and then putting it in a braid. This prevents green hair because instead of your hair soaking up the chlorine, it soaks up the conditioner. While this method is the most effective it also takes preparation. The times that you don’t have time to prepare for swimming, it is very important to use a swimmer’s shampoo immediately after. The one that I have found the most effective is the Malibu Swimmers Wellness shampoo and conditioner, it takes the green out while keeping the hair hydrated. Swimmers Shampoo and Conditioner
