This past Saturday, January 7th, we tried Flower Child on University Drive in Fort Worth. It is reasonably priced and caters to vegan, vegetarian, and Gluten-free diets. We arrived at Flower Child right at 11 am when it opened, and there was no one in line, so we were able to order almost immediately. Although it did get busy rather quickly after we ordered, so we recommend getting there early. It took approximately 10 minutes to receive our food, and while we waited, we were able to take in the restaurant. Flower Child is a very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing place; it is very kid friendly and has excellent service. While only one register was open at the time, the servers we timely and even asked if Makena would like to try their homemade kombucha before she ordered it. The menu is extremely inclusive, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for some healthy options in the new year.
Maggie ordered the Turkey and Avacado Cob, Chocolate Chip Cashew Cookie, and a canned cold brew. The cob cost $13.45, and I received it only a few minutes after ordering. It was made of romaine, arugula, red cabbage, avocado, tomato, cucumber, crunchy corn, pickled onion, smoked almond, and gorgonzola vinaigrette. I didn’t love the dried corn taste whenever I got too much in one bite, but besides that, It tasted fresh, crisp, and delicious. The salad was a healthy and well-rounded meal while still being flavorful and filling. Not to mention that the salad was Gluten free. The Chocolate chip cashew cookie was amazing and gluten-free. While stilling being a delicious dessert, it is a healthier option. With the cold brew, however, I found much to be desired. It was their only coffee option, and I found it not to be my favorite coffee flavor; it was too bitter and plain for me. Overall though, I really enjoyed my meal and will be returning to Flower Child. I give it an 8.5/10
Hannah ordered the Flying Avacado wrap, which has smoked turkey, gouda, romaine, tomato, and avocado hummus. It was very reasonably priced at $11.95. It was very tasty and also came with a side salad with balsamic, which was a perfect contrast to the wrap. The wrap had great flavor and texture and definitely made me feel energized for the rest of the day. To go along with the wrap, I had a glass of raspberry, black iced tea, which was very refreshing and hydrating. Lastly, I had a lemon cake which was by far my favorite thing on the menu. I had a sugary top coat which was hard to go along with the soft spongy cake underneath. It was not too much lemon for those who typically don’t like lemon products, but if you ever come to Flower Child, it is a must-try. Overall I highly recommend Flower Child; it was excellent, and I will most definitely be going back. I give it 9/10.
Makena ordered the crushed avocado toast, which consists of bread of some sort, avocado, white cheddar, black sesame, and a soft egg to top it off. It was so delicious and super flavorful and only cost $7.53. They even cut your toast into four small slices to make it mess-free and just overall easier for you. My toast was vegetarian, and they made sure to let their customers know that. I also ordered a gluten-free homemade lemon cake, and that was the best muffin I have ever had. It was super tasty, and the top had a small crunch due to icing spread thinly on top of the muffin. The cake itself was soft and not dry. I also ordered the homemade kombucha for my delightful drink. It was amazing. It was refreshing and not too tangy, and it had a very pretty appearance. Overall, I definitely will be going to flower child again. I would rate my experience a 10/10
