In the College Football Playoffs there the top 4 teams in the nation. This year has been a lot of controversy, Alabama is not in the playoffs for the first time in a long time. Previously, Alabama as earned their spot in the playoffs seven times in a row.
USC has the Heisman winner, Caleb Williams, and Williams is supposedly the best quarterback in College Football. They did not make the playoffs because they lost to Utah, they are now the 8th seed and Utah is 7th seed.
Tennessee is another college that was the powerhouse in the beginning of the year, then when they lost to Alabama they were out of the playoff conversation permanently.
Ohio State and Michigan really battled to determine who was going to be the #2 seed in the FBS. Ohio was up for most of the first half, then Michigan switched something on and destroyed Ohio state 45-23 it was a really great game for those who cheered for Michigan.
TCU was the biggest surprise in probably all of College Football Playoff history. They went from a 5-7 record in 2021 to a 12-1 record in 2022. They achieved this all with a brand new coach, Sonny Dykes, and a team reeling from the departure of 20-year TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson. TCU’s Quarterback, Max Duggan, lead them in every game.
Every time TCU was down in the 4th quarter, Duggan made plays happen and lead the team to multiple late game wins. TCU Wide Receiver, Quenton Johnson, is a 6’4″ superstar on the field. Johnson lead the team in receptions and receiving yards, and was close to the top in the Big 12 as well. It was a sad day for TCU fans when on Dec 3, 2022 TCU lost the Big 12 Championship to Kansas State in overtime.
Georgia ended their 2021 season at #1 in the rankings, and in 2022 they’re #1 again. Georgia is led by their insanely good defense and Heisman Finalist, Stetson Bennett. They are the favorite over Ohio State in the playoffs. They are also the favorite to win the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship.
