The temperature is falling which only means one thing, Soccer season is coming up! Clay Upchurch and Sam Sanders are seniors playing for the Saints and are extremely excited. “I am very excited to start the season with my boys for my final year and try to make a push for state,” said Sanders. “The season has some tests and some breezes,” said Upchurch, the Captain and goalie of the team.
After talking with the two stars of the team, they both agreed that the Oakridge Owls would be the toughest opponent of the year. The two schools face off on November 29, 2022 at home at 4:30 pm. After asking Upchurch what the team has done to prepare themselves for this game and the rest of the season he answered by saying, “The most important part of being mentally and physically strong for the season is running and staying in shape.”
The boys finished last year with a decent record, hoping to do better this year. When asked about the easiest team they will face, they replied quickly by saying the Fort Worth Country Day Falcons. All Saints’ has has a long rivalry with Fort Worth Country Day, so hopefully they will come on top against the Falcons when they play on January 23, 2023. The team plays about 15 games a season, and when asked about the predicted season record, Upchurch and Sanders both agreed that we would be 10-5. “ The main goal for the season is to compete for State and win it, but because I don’t want to play in college, the real main goal is to have fun with my buddies and have a great time.”
