After the first weekend of college football there were many teams that either played better than what was expected of them, such as Florida State and Colorado, or there were teams that played worse than what was expected, such as Texas Tech and Clemson.
Florida State rose to the occasion in their game, playing #5 ranked LSU, beating them 45-24 and scoring 31 consecutive points and embarrassing the LSU defense. Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis led the Seminoles to the win with 342 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown. Colorado, with a completely new team and coaching staff, played #17 ranked TCU in Fort Worth. Colorado, being 20 point underdogs, went into Fort Worth and outclassed TCU, being led by quarterback Shadeur Sanders, who had 510 passing yards and 4 passing touchdown, and two way player Travis Hunter, who had one interception playing as a cornerback and he had 11 receptions and 119 yards as a wide receiver.
Texas Tech went to Wyoming for their first game of the season and lost in a double overtime thriller. Texas Tech had a good start to the game, going up 17-0 in the first quarter, but then Wyoming’s defense held them to 3 points till overtime. In the 1st overtime both of them scored and got the extra point. In the second overtime Texas Tech started with the ball and scored but they couldn’t convert on the 2-point attempt. Wyoming scored and got the 2-point to win the game. Clemson went to Duke to start the season being ranked as the #9 ranked team, but they lost to Duke 28-7. Duke’s defense shut down anything Clemson tried to do and they couldn’t get anything goin, while Duke was carried by their quarterback, Riley Leonard, who had 175 passing yards, and also had 98 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
